HI, I'M MIKAL :)

What began in 2017 as a simple space to share restaurant recommendations and document my time in the kitchen has evolved into a platform that celebrates flavor, intention, and storytelling through food.

This journey ultimately inspired me to self-publish Marinated Memoirs in 2022. The book is a reflection of my evolution: a collection of recipes layered with memory, culture, and the belief that food is one of the purest expressions of love. My work has since been featured on regional television and recognized by nationally respected organizations, affirming the vision behind what began as a passion project.

A scientist by day, I carry that same curiosity into the kitchen. I’m fascinated by how ingredients interact - how acid brightens, how heat transforms, how texture shifts - and how those small reactions create something that feels like comfort on the palate. 

This website, and Penthouse Eats as a whole, is a collection of all of that - from farm to table to tablet (or phone.. or screen). A place where flavor meets feeling, and every dish carries purpose.
